Timeline for reporting and processing Qualifying Life Events (QLEs)

You have a set number of days to to report and make changes to your insurance coverage based on the Qualifying Life Event (QLE) that took place. The number of days depends on your employer and benefits plan, but is usually 30 or 31 days.

Depending on your employer and benefits plan,  your new coverage will either be: 

  • Backdated to the date of your QLE

  • Effective the month following the date you submitted your QLE
